SJR50,1,53 Whereas, Bay Beach Amusement park dates back to 1892, when Mitchell
4Nejedlo opened a dance hall, bar, and bathhouse named Bay View Beach on the shore
5of the Bay of Green Bay; and
SJR50,1,86 Whereas, throughout the first decades of the 20th century, Bay Beach served
7as a popular swimming and leisure destination for the residents of Northeast
8Wisconsin; and
SJR50,1,119 Whereas, in 1920, then-owners Frank Emery Murphy and Fred A. Rahr
10donated the park and all of its attractions to the city of Green Bay to be used as a
11public park; and
SJR50,1,1412 Whereas, in 1934, President Franklin D. Roosevelt visited Bay Beach as part
13of Green Bay's tercentennial celebration of the landing of French explorer Jean
14Nicolet at Red Banks; and

1Whereas, Bay Beach is the 9th-oldest continuously operating amusement park
2in the United States and is tied for 21st-oldest in the world; and
SJR50,2,43 Whereas, Bay Beach is home to the 4th-oldest wooden roller coaster in the
4world, and one time favorite ride of Elvis Presley, the Zippin Pippin; and
SJR50,2,85 Whereas, Bay Beach continues to thrive and expand with the support of the
6Friends of Bay Beach and the citizens of Green Bay, bringing new and exciting
7attractions to generations of families across our region, state, and the world; now,
8therefore, be it
SJR50,2,11 9Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature
10congratulates Bay Beach Amusement Park in Green Bay on 125 years of continuous
11operation; and, be it further
SJR50,2,13 12Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to
13the mayor of Green Bay and the Friends of Bay Beach, Inc.
