AR17,1,2 1Relating to: condemning the mass shooting that occurred in Las Vegas, Nevada, on
2October 1, 2017.
AR17,1,53 Whereas, around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada,
4a gunman rained down a barrage of gunfire onto a concert crowd of around 22,000
5people from the 32nd floor of a nearby hotel; and
AR17,1,86 Whereas, 59 or more persons died and more than 520 were injured as a result
7of the gunman's act of terror, making it the worst mass shooting in modern United
8States history; and
AR17,1,119 Whereas, the members of the State Assembly remember and honor those who
10needlessly lost their lives on October 1, 2017, as well as the lives affected, harmed,
11and lost every day as a result of gun violence; and
AR17,1,1312 Whereas, an outpouring of prayers, condolences, and thoughts alone cannot
13address the gun-inspired terror and violence that is plaguing our country; and

1Whereas, we as elected representatives have a duty—not to special interest
2groups and campaign donors, but to the people of our state and the United States—to
3address the public health crisis of gun violence; and
AR17,2,64 Whereas, the State Assembly believes reducing gun violence and promoting
5safe, responsible gun ownership and use is a matter of public interest and good public
6policy; and
AR17,2,97 Whereas, the failure to meaningfully address the gun violence public health
8crisis is unjustifiable, and continued inaction is an indictment of any political party
9in power; now, therefore, be it
AR17,2,13 10Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin Assembly
11hereby condemn the mass shooting that occurred in Las Vegas and continued gun
12violence in the United States, and call for action on both the state and federal levels
13to prevent future senseless gun violence.
