AB601,1,3 1An Act to amend 301.48 (3) (b) and 301.49 (3) (b) of the statutes; relating to:
2length of contracts for GPS devices for tracking sex offenders and persons who
3violated injunctions.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law requires the Department of Corrections to monitor using a global
positioning system tracking device certain sex offenders and persons who have
violated certain injunctions. DOC must contract with a vendor for installation and
maintenance of the GPS equipment, and current law limits the term of each contract
to three years. Under this bill, the term is limited to seven years.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
