Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill allows a school board to go into closed session for the purpose of
discussing, developing, reviewing, or approving a school safety plan. Under current
law, a school board is required to meet in open session for these purposes. An open
session is a meeting that is held in a place reasonably accessible to members of the
public and open to all citizens at all times. The bill also provides that school safety
plans are not subject to inspection or copying under open records law.
