SJR25,1,1 1Relating to: the life and public service of Joseph LaPorte.
SJR25,1,32 Whereas, Mr. Joseph Charles LaPorte passed away on February 17, 2013, at
3the age of 91; and
SJR25,1,54 Whereas, Mr. LaPorte's parents were Sicilian immigrants who came to
5Milwaukee in 1904; and
SJR25,1,76 Whereas, Mr. LaPorte served our country as a technical sergeant in World War
7II, earning three battle stars for his exceptional service; and
SJR25,1,98 Whereas, after serving in World War II, Mr. LaPorte lived in Waukesha for the
9rest of his life; and
SJR25,1,1210 Whereas, Mr. LaPorte served as a city of Waukesha alderman for five total
11terms, as mayor of the city of Waukesha for one term, and as Milwaukee County
12Supervisor for one term; and
SJR25,1,1513 Whereas, Mr. LaPorte and his wife Marion founded and operated their popular
14restaurant and tavern, LaPorte's Tap, which brought together customers from all
15over the area; and

1Whereas, Mr. LaPorte worked diligently to bring the Regional State Office
2Building to downtown Waukesha, inspiring residents to contribute to the cause and
3realize that change is possible with persistence and passion; and
SJR25,2,64 Whereas, Mr. LaPorte was an active member of several community
5organizations including St. Joseph's Church, the American Legion, and the
6Waukesha Memorial Hospital Board; and
SJR25,2,97 Whereas, Mr. LaPorte had a deep appreciation for his family and made them
8just as much a priority as the needs of the Waukesha community that he sincerely
9loved; and
SJR25,2,1110 Whereas, the residents of Waukesha will always remember Mr. LaPorte and his
11dedicated service to Waukesha; now, therefore, be it
SJR25,2,14 12Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature and
13the people of Wisconsin honor the memory of Joseph LaPorte for his life and service
14to the people and to Waukesha.
