AR7,1,1 1Relating to: the life and public service of James P. (Jim) Buckley.
AR7,1,32 Whereas, James P. "Jim" Buckley was born on June 7, 1933 in Waukesha, and
3died on December 18, 2012 in Brookfield at the age of 79; and
AR7,1,64 Whereas, Jim was a lifelong resident of Waukesha, graduating from St.
5Joseph's Catholic Elementary School and Waukesha High School, and earning a
6Bachelor of Science degree in history from Carroll College; and
AR7,1,8   7Whereas, Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 until
81952; and
AR7,1,11   9Whereas, he was very active in politics and served as the deputy chairman of
10the Wisconsin Democratic Party from 1961 until 1964 and twice ran for Congress;
11and
AR7,1,13   12Whereas, he served as an alderman in the City of Waukesha for many years;
13and
AR7,1,15   14Whereas, Dick served as the chief clerk of the Assembly during the 1965-1966
15legislative session; and

  1Whereas, he was an ombudsman for Wisconsin Governor Patrick Lucey; and
AR7,2,4   2Whereas, as an excellent public speaker, he was a longtime lobbyist for many
3organizations, including the Wisconsin Banker's Association, School Psychologists,
4Wisconsin Liquor Licenses, and the Wrestling Association; and
AR7,2,6   5Whereas, he enjoyed playing the clarinet in his band, Jim Buckley & His Jazz
6Friends; and
AR7,2,8   7Whereas, he enjoyed acting while in college and later at the Waukesha Civic
8Theatre; and
AR7,2,10   9Whereas, Jim loved nature, particularly hiking and fishing; now, therefore, be

AR7,2,14 11Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
12commend the distinguished career and public service of James P. "Jim" Buckley,
13express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and
14friends; and, be it further
AR7,2,16 15Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution
16to his son, James Buckley, and his daughter, Sarah Grissmeyer.
