AJR93,1,42 Whereas, the Republic of Turkey and the United States of America are
3long-standing allies, both cherishing the universal values of freedom, democracy,
4and human rights; and
AJR93,1,65 Whereas, in its alliances with the United States, Turkey has demonstrated its
6commitment to peace and liberty, as well as its political and religious tolerance; and
AJR93,1,87 Whereas, there are approximately 400,000 Turkish Americans in the United
8States, and a growing number in Wisconsin; and
AJR93,1,119 Whereas, Wisconsin values its vibrant and mutually beneficial relationship
10with Turkey, the world's fifteenth largest economy and Europe's sixth largest
11economy, and is excited at the prospect of future growth; and
AJR93,1,1312 Whereas, expanding the relationship between Wisconsin and Turkey is
13economically and culturally worthy; and

1Whereas, within the last five years, civic leaders, elected officials, and
2academics have traveled to Turkey to strengthen the relationship between
3Wisconsinites and Turkish people; and
AJR93,2,54 Whereas, it is in the best interest of the state of Wisconsin to further cultivate
5the relationship with Turkey and other Turkic nations; and
AJR93,2,96 Whereas, the Niagara Foundation, the Turkic-American Federation of the
7Midwest, the Turkish American Society of Wisconsin, and the Turkish American
8Cultural Center of Madison have all contributed greatly to the betterment of
9relations between Wisconsin and Turkey; and
AJR93,2,1110 Whereas, the friendship between Wisconsin and the Republic of Turkey is
11important and merits recognition; now, therefore, be it
AJR93,2,16 12Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature
13honors the friendship between Wisconsin and Turkey and commends the work of the
14Niagara Foundation, the Turkic-American Federation of the Midwest, the Turkish
15American Society of Wisconsin, and the Turkish American Cultural Center of
16Madison.
