AJR63,1,43 Whereas, Caron Butler is a National Basketball Association champion and
4two-time NBA All-Star; and
AJR63,1,65 Whereas, Caron Butler was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin, and attended
6Racine Park High School; and
AJR63,1,97 Whereas, Caron Butler spent substantial time at both Racine's Bray Center
8and the John Bryant Community Center in his youth, playing AAU basketball for
9the Bray Center team; and
AJR63,1,1110 Whereas, Caron Butler was successful enough in his time at Racine Park High
11School to have his uniform number retired; and
AJR63,1,1312 Whereas, Caron Butler earned a basketball scholarship to the University of
13Connecticut; and

1Whereas, Caron Butler was selected tenth overall in the 2002 NBA draft, and
2has enjoyed a fantastic career, averaging over 15 points and five rebounds a game
3over his 11 professional seasons for five NBA teams; and
AJR63,2,64 Whereas, Caron Butler has been an enthusiastic and charitable member of his
5community throughout his NBA career, and has returned to Racine every off-season
6to perform a variety of community and charitable activities; and
AJR63,2,107 Whereas, Caron Butler's numerous charitable contributions to Racine and
8Wisconsin include distributing bicycles and bicycle helmets to youths, hosting Caron
9Butler's Summer Homecoming every summer in Racine, and sponsoring the Cops 'N
10Kids Legacy Project in Racine; and
AJR63,2,1311 Whereas, Caron Butler's community involvement in Racine and Wisconsin is
12so significant that the city of Racine honored him with Caron Butler Day on June 8,
132007; and
AJR63,2,1614 Whereas, Caron Butler was recently traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, and will
15now continue his outstanding career playing for his home-state team; now,
16therefore, be it
AJR63,2,20 17Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature
18congratulates Caron Butler on his Wisconsin homecoming and his NBA career thus
19far, commends his numerous charitable contributions to his community, and wishes
20him and the Milwaukee Bucks success this upcoming season and beyond.
