AJR26,1,42 Whereas, Dave Donnellan graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School and
3earned a scholarship to UW-Madison, where he earned three varsity letters on the
4Badgers football team and was a member of the 1942 Big Ten Title team; and
AJR26,1,75 Whereas, Dave's time in Madison was interrupted by World War II, in which he
6served in the 7th Infantry, a part of the 8th Armored Division in the European
7Theater; and
AJR26,1,98 Whereas, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge, earning the Bronze Star for
9bravery; and
AJR26,1,1010 Whereas, following the war Dave completed his degree; and
AJR26,1,1211 Whereas, Dave then came back to Eau Claire to start his family real estate
12business, where he worked for 65 years; and
AJR26,1,1413 Whereas, on June 10, 1950, Dave married Jane Mahoney of Superior,
14Wisconsin. They were married for 59 years; and

1Whereas, Dave's companies developed many residential and office structures
2in the Eau Claire community, and he was involved with the development of
3Chippewa Valley Industrial Park on Eau Claire's northeast side; and
AJR26,2,54 Whereas, Dave was also involved in a multitude of civic and community groups
5including the United Way, YMCA, and Little League; and
AJR26,2,76 Whereas, Dave spent 10 years on the City Council, from 1959 to 1969, serving
7three terms as president; and
AJR26,2,98 Whereas, Dave was inducted into the Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce's
9Business Hall of Fame in 2009; now, therefore, be it
AJR26,2,12 10Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
11Wisconsin legislature commend the life and public service of Dave Donnellan, mourn
12his passing, and extend their condolences to his family and friends.
