AJR114,1,52 Whereas, Tibetans around the world are holding events to commemorate 55
3years of exile and celebrate the efforts to preserve and sustain their identity and to
4thank governments, including the United States, for their support during this time;
5and
AJR114,1,86 Whereas, the United States Congress has enacted legislation declaring Tibet
7 an occupied country whose true representatives are His Holiness the Dalai Lama
8and the Tibetan government in exile; and
AJR114,1,129 Whereas, the accumulated grievances of almost six decades of cultural,
10religious, economic, and linguistic repression of the Tibetan people by the
11government of the People's Republic of China have resulted in resentments that are
12the root of the Tibetan protests in 1959 and 2008; and
AJR114,2,213 Whereas, human rights and freedom in Tibet must be the concern of all
14freedom-loving people, who must call on the government of China to end its
15crackdown on Tibet and enter into a substantive dialogue with His Holiness the

1Dalai Lama and the exiled government of Tibet to find a negotiated solution to
2protect the fundamental freedoms of all Tibetans; and
AJR114,2,63 Whereas, on March 10, 2014, Tibetans will gather in their host countries to
4commemorate the 55th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising against the
5Chinese occupation of their country and to honor more than one million Tibetans who
6died in their struggle for the independence of Tibet; and
AJR114,2,97 Whereas, it is fitting on this 55th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising
8that we recognize Wisconsin's Tibetan community and its plea for justice; now,
9therefore, be it
AJR114,2,11 10Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
11Wisconsin legislature proclaim March 10, 2014, Tibet Day.
