SJR54,1,63 Whereas, Cpl. Justin D. Ross was born on September 14, 1988, in Wisconsin
4Rapids, Wisconsin, the son of Rev. Ronald and Deborah Ross, and died on March 26,
52011, in the Helmand province of Afghanistan as a result of wounds sustained when
6insurgents attacked his unit; and
SJR54,1,87 Whereas, Justin was a 2007 graduate of Bay Port High School and a 2009
8graduate of Universal Technical Institute; and
SJR54,1,119 Whereas, Justin entered the United States Army Reserves in 2006, was
10attached to the 428th Combat Engineer Company of Wausau, and then deployed
11with the 863rd Engineer Battalion; and
SJR54,1,1412 Whereas, Justin was mobilized in August 2010 and deployed to Afghanistan in
13October 2010 as a combat engineer, whose job was to clear routes of danger and debris
14so other troops could move through the area; and

1Whereas, Justin was posthumously promoted from specialist to corporal and
2was awarded ten military awards, including the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple
3Heart, and the Meritorious Service Medal; and
SJR54,2,64 Whereas, Justin embodied the Army's core values of loyalty, duty, respect,
5selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal service, and he will be sorely missed;
6and
SJR54,2,107 Whereas, Justin was the beloved son of Rev. Ronald and Deborah Ross, brother
8of Nathaniel and Collin, and dear friend to many, and his family and fellow citizens
9are proud to have known him and admire his devotion to family, faith, and country;
10now, therefore, be it
SJR54,2,13 11Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature
12commemorates the remarkable life of Justin David Ross and extends its deepest
13sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues; and, be it further
SJR54,2,16 14Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint
15resolution to Justin's parents, Ron and Debbie Ross, and Justin's brothers,
16Nathaniel and Collin Ross.
