SR3,1,52 Whereas, Jerel McNeal has been named a third team All-American by Parade
3Magazine and the top senior by Illinois Prep Bullseye, and named to First Team
4All-State by the Associated Press while at Hillcrest High School in Chicago, Illinois;
5and
SR3,1,96 Whereas, McNeal was named to the Big East All-Rookie Team his freshman
7year while leading the team with 64 steals and breaking the previous record held by
8Doc Rivers, and named Big East Rookie of the Week in November 2005 and part of
9the Great Alaska Shootout All-Tournament selection; and
SR3,1,1310 Whereas, McNeal's stellar performance in the 2006-2007 season earned him
11All-Big East Second Team, Big East Defensive Player of the Year, Rivals.com
12All-Defensive First Team, and a position on the Big East Honor Roll twice, all while
13recording 76 assists in a single season, fifth most in a single season history; and

1Whereas, McNeal was named to All-Big East Second Team for the second year
2in a row while winning Marquette's Deflection King Award and Most Valuable Player
3Award; and
SR3,2,64 Whereas, McNeal was ranked 30th in the nation in steals per game and finished
5among the Big East Conference leaders in scoring, assists, and steals and was named
6to the All-Tournament Team during the Big East Tournament; and
SR3,2,87 Whereas, McNeal was named Big East Conference Player of the Week in
8December 2008; and
SR3,2,139 Whereas, McNeal is a current All-American and Big East Player of the Year
10candidate, and by scoring 23 points in his 199th game against Big East Rival
11Villanova on February 10, 2009, became the leading scorer in Marquette men's
12basketball history with 1,776 points, breaking George Thompson's 40-year-old
13scoring mark; now, therefore, be it
