SJR66,1,63 Whereas, the University of Wisconsin (UW) System is one of the nation's
4foremost public university systems with 13 four-year universities, 13 two-year
5colleges, a statewide UW-Extension, and more than 178,000 students and 32,000
6employees; and
SJR66,1,97 Whereas, at each of the UW System institutions, undergraduate researchers
8are advancing the tradition of the Wisconsin Idea as they join with faculty mentors
9in discovering and applying new ideas to improve the quality of life in our state; and
SJR66,1,1210 Whereas, cutting-edge research and development conducted at UW System
11institutions is vital to Wisconsin's economic development and the creation of new
12jobs; and
SJR66,2,213 Whereas, on Wednesday, May 5, the UW System will host the seventh annual
14"Posters in the Rotunda: A Celebration of Undergraduate Research" at the Wisconsin

1state capitol, featuring research projects presented by undergraduate students from
2across the system; and
SJR66,2,53 Whereas, the posters represent a wide array of academic disciplines and
4illustrate the remarkable contributions made by our undergraduate students to
5address issues of critical importance to Wisconsin and to our nation; and
SJR66,2,96 Whereas, the undergraduate research projects featured during "Posters in the
7Rotunda" exemplify the innovation and entrepreneurism necessary for the
8development and continued growth of our communities, state, and nation; now,
9therefore, be it
SJR66,2,13 10Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
11legislature proclaims May 5, 2010, as Undergraduate Research Day and commends
12the University of Wisconsin System students, faculty, and staff for their
13undergraduate research efforts.
