SJR40,1,52 Whereas, the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission and its
3member tribes are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the commission and the
4efforts of its member tribes to secure and implement their ceded-territory treaty
5rights; and
SJR40,1,76 Whereas, 2009 is the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Great Lakes
7Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission; and
SJR40,1,98 Whereas, the commission and its member tribes will celebrate by documenting
9the history of the commission and by telling a "Good Story" — Minwaajimo; and
SJR40,1,1210 Whereas, the "Good Story" refers to the efforts of the commission and its
11member tribes to secure and implement their ceded-territory treaty rights over the
12past 40 years; and
SJR40,1,1513 Whereas, the commission has played an important role in the implementation
14of its member tribes' treaty rights and in the preservation and protection of the
15natural resources of the ceded territory; and

1Whereas, the commission, its member tribes, and the citizens of northern
2Wisconsin have worked, and will continue to work together to build cultural
3understanding and cooperative relationships; now, therefore, be it
SJR40,2,7 4Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
5Wisconsin legislature congratulate the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife
6Commission and its member tribes as they celebrate "Minwaajimo — Telling a Good
7Story: Preserving Ojibwe Treaty Rights"; and, be it further
SJR40,2,9 8Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall present a copy of this joint
9resolution to the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission.
