SJR33,1,63 Whereas, Steven J. Christofferson, born September 5, 1988, son of Michell
4Christofferson and brother to Dakota and Dillon Christofferson, died on April 21,
52008, of injuries sustained from a roadside improvised explosive device in Bayji, Iraq;
6and
SJR33,1,97 Whereas, Steve was a 2006 graduate of Cudahy High School in Cudahy,
8Wisconsin, where he was on the track and football teams, and he enlisted in the
9United States Army a week after his high school graduation in June 2006; and
SJR33,1,1110 Whereas, Sergeant Christofferson was very proud to represent his country and
11to serve in the United States Army; and
SJR33,1,1412 Whereas, Sergeant Christofferson was in his first tour of duty in Iraq, and he
13received four medals including the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart along
14with a posthumous promotion to sergeant; and

1Whereas, Steve is remembered as someone who was always smiling and
2fiercely devoted to those whom he loved, and his family and friends will remember
3him as a kind, thoughtful, and caring older brother and person; and
SJR33,2,64 Whereas, Steve felt a deep affection for his country and the ideals it holds dear,
5and he served the United States and its citizens with determination and respect and
6was the example of duty, selflessness, and honor; and
SJR33,2,87 Whereas, Steve will be sorely missed by all of those who knew him and by those
8whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it
SJR33,2,12 9Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of
10the state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of Sergeant Steven J.
11Christofferson and extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and
12colleagues; and, be it further
SJR33,2,14 13Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint
14resolution to Michell, Dakota, and Dillon Christofferson of Cudahy, Wisconsin.
