SB558,1,2 1An Act to create 29.336 (3) (e) of the statutes; relating to: feeding of deer for
2viewing purposes.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, in areas other than in chronic wasting disease (CWD) zones
or certain areas where there is a risk of CWD, a person may feed deer for viewing
purposes if the site is within 50 yards of a business open to the public or an
owner-occupied residence, if the site is not less than 100 yards from a roadway that
has a posted speed limit of more than 45 miles per hour, if not more than two gallons
of feed are present at the feeding site, and if the feed does not contain any animal
parts or byproducts. This bill imposes an additional condition by allowing feeding
for viewing only during the period beginning on the day following the last day of the
regular firearm deer hunting season and ending on the following Labor Day.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
