SB364,1,3 1An Act to create 100.277 of the statutes; relating to: prohibiting the
2installation, sale, and distribution of wheel weights and other wheel balancing
3products that contain lead.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill prohibits the installation, when replacing or balancing a tire on a
motor vehicle, of a wheel weight or other wheel balancing product that contains lead,
if the lead was intentionally added during the manufacture of the weight or other
product. The bill also prohibits the sale or distribution of such a weight or other
product.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB364, s. 1 4Section 1. 100.277 of the statutes is created to read:
SB364,1,6 5100.277 Lead wheel weights prohibited. (1) In this section, "motor
6vehicle" means a motor vehicle required to be registered under ch. 341.

1(2) No person may install a wheel weight or other wheel balancing product that
2contains lead when the person replaces or balances a tire on a motor vehicle, if the
3weight or other balancing product contains lead that was intentionally added during
4the manufacture of the weight or other product.
SB364,2,7 5(3) No person may sell or distribute a wheel weight or other wheel balancing
6product that contains lead that was intentionally added during the manufacture of
7the product.
SB364, s. 2 8Section 2. Effective date.
SB364,2,109 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 13th month beginning after
10publication.
