SB124,1,3 1An Act to amend 118.33 (1) (a) 1.; and to create 118.33 (1) (e) of the statutes;
2relating to: granting high school credit for extracurricular sports and
3requiring additional physical education credits for a high school diploma.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law requires a high school pupil to earn 1.5 credits in physical
education in order to be eligible for a high school diploma. This bill increases the
number of physical education credits needed to two. The bill also authorizes a school
board to adopt a policy granting a pupil credit in physical education for participating
in an extracurricular sport if the sport is sanctioned by the Wisconsin Interscholastic
Athletic Association.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
