AJR121,1,42 Whereas, many thousands of Wisconsin residents and visitors enjoy
3motorcycling as an energy efficient mode of transportation and as an enjoyable
4recreational activity; and
AJR121,1,75 Whereas, May is nationally recognized as the month motorcycles become more
6prevalent on our streets and the need to be aware of their presence is of the utmost
7urgency; and
AJR121,1,128 Whereas, due to the increased number of motorcycles on the roads and
9highways of our state and because motorcycle awareness and safety is a concern to
10all, it is appropriate to set aside a time to alert all motorists to the number of
11motorcyclists on the roads and to help motorists become aware of the safety concerns
12of motorcyclists especially with regard to sharing the road with motorcycles; and
AJR121,1,1513 Whereas, this worthwhile observance provides all Wisconsin motorists with an
14opportunity to rededicate themselves to the highest standards of highway safety;

1Whereas, throughout Wisconsin, motorcyclists have been at the forefront of
2efforts to promote the wise and sensible use of this most enjoyable mode of travel; and
AJR121,2,63 Whereas, it is important to recognize the need for awareness on the part of all
4drivers ensuring that they are made aware of the seasonal return of motorcyclists
5and are urged to be particularly alert and careful when approaching or over taking
6a motorcycle on the highway; and
AJR121,2,97 Whereas, it is also important to honor motorcyclists' many contributions to the
8communities in which they live and ride and to remember those who have lost their
9lives in motorcycle accidents; now therefore be it
AJR121,2,12 10Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the legislature
11hereby proclaims the month of May 2010 as Motorcycle Awareness Month; and be it
12further
AJR121,2,16 13Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
14resolution to A Brotherhood Against Totalitarian Enactments (ABATE) of
15Wisconsin, an organization that is actively promoting the safe operation, increased
16rider training, and increased motorist awareness of motorcycles.
