AB476,1,4 1An Act relating to: requiring the Department of Commerce to study and report
2on methods to retain businesses at risk of relocating or expanding outside the
3state and to encourage business relocations and expansions in the state and to
4create an emergency response team.

This bill requires the Department of Commerce to study and report to the Joint
Committee on Finance on methods the department currently uses, and methods the
department could use in the future, to identify businesses that are at risk of
relocating or expanding outside the state or that could be encouraged to relocate or
expand inside the state. The bill also requires the department to create a team to
contact prospects for relocating or expanding within 24 hours after notification.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

AB476,2,8 6(1) Report on at-risk businesses and creation of emergency response team.
7Not later than 30 days after the effective date of this subsection, the department of

1commerce shall submit to the cochairpersons of the joint committee on finance a
2report that identifies retention methods the department currently uses, and
3retention methods the department could use in the future, to identify companies at
4risk for relocation or expansion outside of this state and that includes a plan to
5identify businesses outside of this state that are seeking to relocate or expand, or that
6could be encouraged to relocate or expand through the use of incentives. The
7department of commerce shall also develop an emergency response team that could
8contact prospects for expansion or relocation within 24 hours after notification.
