2States Army, who lost his life during Operation Enduring Freedom.
SJR88,1,63 Whereas, on October 31, 2007, Sergeant Louis Griese, of Sturgeon Bay,
4Wisconsin, a member of the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade
5Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, died while serving his country in Tikrit, Iraq;
6and
SJR88,1,87 Whereas, Sergeant Griese provided faithful and honorable service to the people
8of the state of Wisconsin and to the people of the United States of America; and
SJR88,1,139 Whereas, Sergeant Griese is a 1996 graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School. He
10was described as a quiet student and never got into trouble; his mother said he might
11have been "the perfect teenager." Griese was fond of the Halloween holiday and it
12should come as no surprise that he enjoyed the "Halloween" movie series. His
13mechanical side had him fixing cars and installing stereo equipment; and

15the Army Achievement Medal (five times), the Army Good Conduct Medal (three

1times), the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global
2War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal,
3the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service
4Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon; and
SJR88,2,65 Whereas, the people of Wisconsin mourn the death of Sergeant Griese, a native
6of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; and
SJR88,2,167 Whereas, Sergeant Griese is survived by his wife, Stephanie and their
8daughter, Skylar of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; his parents, Sue and Jim Frihart of
9Sturgeon Bay; his sister, Samantha (Tony) Avery and her children, Bradley and
10Helen Stacie of Green Bay; one step niece, Christina Cheek; step great-nephew
11Charles Avery; four half brothers, Bruce Griese of Beaner Falls, Pennsylvania, Keith
12Griese of Green Bay, Dale Griese of Villa Rice, Georgia, and Brandon Griese of Green
13Bay; four half sisters, Wendy Eslinger of Corvallis, Montana, Cindy Orada of
14Algoma, Dove Griese of Kewaunee; and Melody Lacey of Kewaunee; a sister-in-law,
15Sandi (Staff Sergeant Steven Takesly, also serving in Iraq); a brother-in-law, Mark
16(Cheryl) Tate of Wolfforth, Texas; and his in-laws, Charles and Glenda Tate; and

18grandparents, Philip and Helen Albertson and Harold and John Mabel (Younk)

SJR88,2,2120 Whereas, Sergeant Griese was laid to rest on Saturday, November 10, 2007, at
21Evergreen Cemetery in Algoma, Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it
SJR88,2,24 22Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That legislature of the
23state of Wisconsin commemorates the remarkable life of Sergeant Louis Griese and
24extends its deepest sympathies to his family, friends and colleagues; and be it further

2resolution to sargeant Griese's wife, Stephanie and their daughter, Skylar of Fort
