SB277,1,2 1An Act to amend 350.10 (1) (gm) of the statutes; relating to: a speed limit for
2the operation of snowmobiles during the hours of darkness.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law imposes a speed limit of 55 miles per hour on the operation of
snowmobiles during the hours of darkness. Current law defines "hours of darkness"
as the period of time between one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before
sunrise and all other times when there is not enough natural light to clearly see a
person or a vehicle that is 500 feet away. Current law sunsets this provision on July
1, 2007. This bill extends the sunset to July 1, 2010.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
