1An Act to create 84.108 of the statutes;
relating to: designating and marking
2a bridge in Waupaca County as the Waupaca County Veterans Memorial

Under current law, certain highway routes and bridges have been designated
and marked to memorialize, commemorate, or recognize certain individuals, groups,
or events. This bill directs the Department of Transportation to designate and, upon
receipt of sufficient contributions from interested parties, mark the bridge across the
Waupaca River in the city of Waupaca as the "Waupaca County Veterans Memorial
Bridge" to serve as a memorial to the veterans of Waupaca County who served in the
armed forces of this nation. No state funds, other than from contributions from
interested parties, may be used for the erection or maintenance of any marker to
identify the bridge as the "Waupaca County Veterans Memorial Bridge."
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

1. 84.108 of the statutes is created to read:

584.108 Waupaca County Veterans Memorial Bridge. (1) Upon completion
6of the construction of a bridge on STH 22/54 across the Waupaca River in the city of
1Waupaca in Waupaca County, the department shall designate and, subject to sub. (2),
2mark the bridge as the "Waupaca County Veterans Memorial Bridge" as a living
3memorial to and in honor of the veterans of Waupaca County who served in the armed
4forces of this nation.

5(2) Upon receipt of sufficient contributions from interested parties, including
6any county, city, village, or town, to cover the costs of erecting and maintaining
7markers, the department shall erect and maintain, adjacent to the roadway of STH
822/54 in close proximity to the bridge specified in sub. (1), markers identifying the
9bridge as the "Waupaca County Veterans Memorial Bridge." No state funds, other
10than from the receipt of contributions under this subsection, may be expended for the
11erection or maintenance of the markers.
