AJR51,1,1 1Relating to: the life and public service of Wilfrid J. Turba.
AJR51,1,42 Whereas, Wilfrid J. Turba will always be remembered as a devoted family man,
3hard-working farmer, dedicated member of the community, and a valued voice in
4numerous local and statewide organizations; and
AJR51,1,75 Whereas, Wilfrid J. Turba was born in the town of Russell, Sheboygan County,
6on January 18, 1928, and died peacefully on August 18, 2005, at the age of 77 on the
7property that was settled by his great-great grandfather; and
AJR51,1,128 Whereas, Wilfrid J. Turba was a 1945 graduate of New Holstein High School
9and was a Wisconsin farmer all his life. He devoted 33 years to 4-H as a general
10leader and was very active in the Farm Bureau, both locally and on the Wisconsin
11State Board of Directors. Wilfrid also served on the state board of the Department
12of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection; and
AJR51,1,1513 Whereas, Wilfrid J. Turba served as a member and president of the New
14Holstein School Board for 21 years. In addition, he was an active member of St. Ann's
15Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Knights, Branch 223; and

1Whereas, Wilfrid J. Turba was elected to the Wisconsin state assembly in 1981
2and honorably represented the 27th Assembly District during the 1982-1992
3legislative sessions. During his time in the state assembly, he was known for his
4ability to work with all sides on legislative issues, always putting the interests of his
5constituents first; and
AJR51,2,76 Whereas, Wilfrid J. Turba married his first wife, Leona (Boll) on May 2, 1950,
7who preceded him in death on December 28, 1995; and
AJR51,2,108 Whereas, on December 30, 1996, Wilfrid J. Turba married Mary Jane
9Fellenz-Brunmeier. She survives him along with her 2 daughters, Mary Hansen and
10Sharon Anhalt; and
AJR51,2,1811 Whereas, Wilfrid J. Turba is further survived by his 9 children, 4 sons, James
12(Jean Tyrell) Turba of Minooka, Ill., Jerry (Judy) Turba of DePere, Michael (Patricia)
13Turba of Platteville, and David (Annika) Turba of Elkhart Lake; 5 daughters, Mary
14(Mark) Finger of Luxemburg, Sister Anne Turba, O.S.F., of Manitowoc, Dr. Rose
15Turba (Dan Kiernan) of Green Bay, Joan Turba of Green Bay, and Judy Turba of
16Green Bay; 19 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Robert (Doris) Turba of New Holstein and
17Kenneth (Lydia) Turba of Elkhart Lake; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and
18many friends; and
AJR51,2,2019 Whereas, Wilfrid J. Turba will always remain a loving husband, father, and
20grandfather in the hearts of his family members; now, therefore, be it
AJR51,2,24 21Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
22Wisconsin state legislature recognize the life accomplishments of Wilfrid J. Turba
23and commend his devoted public service, express their sorrow at his passing, and
24extend their sincere condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further

1Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
2resolution to Wilfrid J. Turba's wife and children.
