SJR68,1,1 1Relating to: the life and service of Sergeant Eugene A. Uhl III.
SJR68,1,32 Whereas, Sergeant Uhl, son of Joan and Eugene Uhl Jr., was born in Waupaca
3on November 27, 1981; and
SJR68,1,64 Whereas, Sergeant Uhl was an athlete who participated in multiple sports as
5well as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horseback riding;
6and
SJR68,1,107 Whereas, Sergeant Uhl upheld a family tradition of service by joining the
8Wisconsin National Guard in 1999, where he demonstrated outstanding leadership
9and skill, being cited in a letter of commendation by this commanding officer in basic
10training; and
SJR68,1,1311 Whereas, Sergeant Uhl in February 2003 was stationed in Iraq as a member
12of the 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery of the 101st Airborne, where he was
13awarded both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart; and

1Whereas, Sergeant Uhl was an upstanding citizen and student whose
2friendliness, work ethic, and companionship will be forever missed by his loving
3family and friends; and
SJR68,2,64 Whereas, the life and service of Sergeant Eugene A. Uhl III will forever be
5remembered by a grateful community, state, and nation as one based on service,
6honor, and patriotism; now, therefore, be it
SJR68,2,9 7Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
8Wisconsin legislature honor Eugene A. Uhl III for his dedication to country and
9express their heartfelt sorrow over the loss of his life; and, be it further
SJR68,2,12 10Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
11resolution to Sergeant Uhl's parents, Joan and Eugene Uhl Jr.; his sisters, Cheryl,
12Chastity, and Charity; and his fiancée, Emily Groshek.
