Whereas, Tech. Sergeant William Markham was honored with the Silver Star
4for his brave service to the United States in Afghanistan; and

Whereas, Tech. Sergeant William Markham was the first airman in
6Afghanistan, as well as the sole special operations member behind enemy lines for
7many weeks; and

Whereas, Tech. Sergeant William Markham courageously flew through enemy
9territory mapping out any dangers for the allied forces as targets and making the air
10strikes in Afghanistan a success; and

Whereas, the Silver Star is awarded to those who show great gallantry in action
12against a United States enemy and is one of the top honors given; and

Whereas, Tech. Sergeant William Markham has clearly and with distinction
14shown great gallantry in Afghanistan and has earned not only the honor of the Silver
1Star but also the grateful thanks and respect of the citizens of Wisconsin, this senate,
2and the entire Unites States of America, which he defended; now, therefore, be it

3Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That: the members of
4the Wisconsin legislature commend Tech. Sergeant William Markham for his
5gallantry in action and express their appreciation of all that he has given to
6Wisconsin and his country; and, be it further

7Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
8resolution to Tech. Sergeant William Markham and his family.
