SJR26,1,32 Whereas, Marianne E. Becker was born on March 14, 1941, and died on March
310, 2003, surrounded by her family; and
SJR26,1,44 Whereas, she worked in the legal profession for 35 years; and
SJR26,1,65 Whereas, for the last 17 years, Judge Becker served the public and Waukesha
6County as a circuit judge; and
SJR26,1,87 Whereas, in 1985, Judge Becker became the first female judge elected in
8Waukesha County; and
SJR26,1,109 Whereas, she worked with great dedication for every individual involved in the
10legal process, especially the victims of crime; and
SJR26,1,1311 Whereas, showing her devotion to assisting victims, Judge Becker founded the
12Waukesha County Victims' Impact Panel, which aims to build an understanding
13between victims and offenders; and
SJR26,1,1514 Whereas, she also volunteered her time for many community organizations,
15including the Waukesha County D.A.R.E. program; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
2Wisconsin legislature commend the committed service that Marianne E. Becker gave
3to Wisconsin and Waukesha County, express their sorrow at her death, and extend
4their condolences to her family and friends; and, be it further
SJR26,2,6 5Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
6resolution to Judge Becker's husband.
