SJR25,1,3 1Relating to: commending the soldiers serving on active duty in the Middle East and
2their families and friends and praying for the prompt and safe return of
3American troops.
SJR25,1,64 Whereas, approximately 2,300 members of the Wisconsin army and air
5national guard, constituting about 24% of the Wisconsin membership, have been
6called to active duty as the United States mobilizes for war against Iraq; and
SJR25,1,87 Whereas, this represents the largest percentage of Wisconsin army and air
8national guard members that have been activated since 1961; and
SJR25,1,119 Whereas, approximately 1,600 members of army reserve, air force reserve,
10marine corps reserve, and navy reserve units in Wisconsin have been called to active
11duty; and
SJR25,1,1312 Whereas, thousands of other sons and daughters of Wisconsin in the full-time
13military will serve in the Middle East in the war against Iraq; and
SJR25,1,1514 Whereas, enlisting in the armed forces demonstrates a strong love of country
15and commitment to the values of our nation; and

1Whereas, military service requires great personal sacrifice for modest pay and
2long periods of being away from family, friends, and community; and troops in the
3Middle East will face harsh desert conditions; and
SJR25,2,54 Whereas, those who enlist put their trust in the wisdom of our nation's leaders,
5and know that they could, at any time, give their lives for their country; and
SJR25,2,76 Whereas, family and friends of soldiers say good-bye to their loved ones with
7the fear and uncertainty of what lies ahead; now, therefore, be it
SJR25,2,11 8Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature of
9the state of Wisconsin expresses its support of the men and women of the United
10States armed forces, including the reserves and national guard, for their courage,
11dedication, and service to their country; and, be it further
SJR25,2,14 12Resolved, That the Wisconsin legislature commends the family and friends of
13those soldiers serving on active duty in the Middle East and prays for the prompt and
14safe return of their loved ones; and, be it further
SJR25,2,17 15Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this joint
16resolution to the immediate family of each of the Wisconsin residents mobilized for
17military action in the Middle East.
