AJR62,1,42 Whereas, Irvin Favre, resident of Kiln, Mississippi, and father of beloved Green
3Bay Packer quarterback Brett Favre, died suddenly on December 21, 2003, at the
4young age of 58; and
AJR62,1,65 Whereas, Irvin Favre graduated from Gulfport High School in 1963; and he
6then played baseball at Southern Miss, lettering in 1966-67; and
AJR62,1,87 Whereas, he married his wife, Bonita, and the couple had 4 children, Jeff, Brett,
8Scott, and Brandi; and
AJR62,1,119 Whereas, Irvin was an outstanding high school teacher and coach for 28 years;
10and he coached football and baseball on the Gulf Coast, first at St. John, then at
11Hancock North Central, where he coached his 3 sons; and
AJR62,1,1412 Whereas, he returned to coaching with the Mississippi Fire Dogs, an indoor
13minor league football team, and led the team to a National Indoor Football League
14Championship; and

1Whereas, he also was the owner of a family restaurant, Favre's on the Bayou;

AJR62,2,53 Whereas, Irvin was well known for his southern hospitality when curious
4Packer fans drove down the misspelled "Irvin Farve Road" to his 52-acre home in
5Kiln, Mississippi, to see the home of their beloved quarterback; and
AJR62,2,96 Whereas, Irvin became an honorary Wisconsin citizen as he followed his son's
7NFL career closely and considered the Packers' 1997 Super Bowl victory over the
8New England Patriots in New Orleans among the best events of his life; now,
9therefore, be it
AJR62,2,13 10Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
11Wisconsin legislature commemorate the life and public service of Irvin Favre,
12express their sorrow at his death, and extend their condolences to his family and
13friends; and, be it further
AJR62,2,15 14Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
15resolution to Irvin Favre's wife and children.
