5Domestic Violence Day; and
AJR58,1,86 Whereas, in conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the state
7of Wisconsin proclaims October 1, 2001, as the Day of Unity for victims of domestic
8violence; and
AJR58,1,109 Whereas, the state of Wisconsin proclaims October 10, 2001, as Health Cares
10about Domestic Violence Day; and
AJR58,1,1511 Whereas, by observing Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Work to End
12Domestic Violence Day, the Day of Unity, and Health Cares about Domestic Violence
13Day, greater awareness of the incidence of violence in the home is furthered, focusing
14on the victims of domestic violence and their children who have suffered emotional
15and physical abuse; and

1Whereas, through the inspiration, courage, and persistence of victims of
2domestic violence, their children, and their advocates, legislation has been enacted
3to provide protection and services for those victims and their children; and
AJR58,2,64 Whereas, the achievements of those working to end domestic violence
5throughout the state and the nation, together with the continuing efforts of this state
6to assist victims of domestic violence, are to be commended; now, therefore, be it
AJR58,2,12 7Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
8Wisconsin legislature hereby proclaim October as Domestic Violence Awareness
9Month; October 1, 2001, as the Work to End Domestic Violence Day; October 1, 2001,
10as the Day of Unity, and October 10, 2001, as Health Cares about Domestic Violence
11Day in the effort to promote an awareness of the incidence of domestic violence; and,
12be it further
AJR58,2,14 13Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall send copies of this joint
14resolution to Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
