AR4,1,1 1Relating to: the life and public service of Barbara Geyer.
AR4,1,32 Whereas, Barbara Geyer was born in Watertown on July 5, 1940, and died in
3Jefferson on January 11, 1997; and
AR4,1,54 Whereas, she graduated from Jefferson High School and the University of
5Wisconsin-Whitewater; and
AR4,1,86 Whereas, Ms. Geyer began working in the office of the Jefferson County Clerk
7in 1960, became a deputy in that office the next year, was first elected Jefferson
8County Clerk in 1976 and continued in that position until her death; and
AR4,1,99 Whereas, she had a rare combination of efficiency and compassion; and
AR4,1,1110 Whereas, she demonstrated the former quality by ensuring that her office ran
11smoothly and performed its work in a timely fashion; and
AR4,1,1412 Whereas, she demonstrated the latter quality by her friendliness and obvious
13concern for her co-workers, her friends and the people of Jefferson County who had
14business with her office; and
AR4,2,215 Whereas, she also coached and refereed basketball and was active in the
16Jefferson County Taxpayers Alliance, the Jefferson Area Business and Professional

1Women's Organization, the Jefferson County Republican Party and her church; now,
2therefore, be it
AR4,2,6 3Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the assembly of the state of
4Wisconsin commend the decades of exemplary public service that Barbara Geyer
5rendered to the people of Jefferson County, express their sorrow at her death and
6extend their condolences to her family and friends; and, be it further
AR4,2,8 7Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this resolution
8to Barbara Geyer's mother and to her brother, Ronald.
