Current law prohibits any person from operating on a highway during hours of
darkness any trailer or semitrailer or, except for an automobile, any vehicle having
a width in excess of 80 inches unless the vehicle is equipped with 2 rear reflectors.
These reflectors must be readily visible to approaching traffic for a distance of up to
500 feet. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in a forfeiture of not
less than $10 nor more than $200.
This bill prohibits operation of a trailer, semitrailer or pole trailer 30 feet or
more in length on a highway during hours of darkness unless the vehicle is equipped
with 2 side reflectors. A person who violates this provision may be required to forfeit
not less than $10 nor more than $200.
