1995 - 1996 LEGISLATURE
May 5, 1995 - Introduced by Representative Gard, cosponsored by Senator
Buettner. Referred to Committee on Welfare Reform.
AB354,1,3 1An Act to repeal 49.193 (6) (c) and 49.27 (5) (e) 3. of the statutes; relating to:
2the number of hours of required participation in the community work
3experience component of the job opportunities and basic skills program.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
The job opportunities and basic skills (JOBS) program, administered by the
department of health and social services, provides employment training and
educational and supportive services to assist recipients of aid to families with
dependent children in obtaining gainful employment. The community work
experience program (CWEP) is a component of the JOBS program. Under current
law, participants in CWEP generally may not be required to work more than 32 hours
per week and may not be required to work more than 16 weeks during a 12-month
period. This bill eliminates the restriction on the number of hours and weeks that
a participant may be required to work.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
