Whereas, Allen J. Buechel was sworn in on April 21, 2009, for his fifth consecutive term as Fond du Lac county executive, making him the longest serving county executive in Wisconsin history; and

Whereas, Mr. Buechel began his career as an elected official in 1976, winning a seat on the Fond du Lac County board of supervisors, where he served 17 years; and

Whereas, his achievements included chairing the Finance, Taxation, and Personnel Committee; and

Whereas, Mr. Buechel was elected county executive in 1993; and

Whereas, under his leadership, Fond du Lac County piloted W-2 and Family Care for the State of Wisconsin, two programs that have grown immensely and now have become adopted statewide; and

Whereas, Mr. Buechel was instrumental in developing the Save a Smile program, which provides dental care to Medicare eligible children in Fond du Lac County and will serve as a pilot to several other counties; now, therefore, be it
