2003 Senate Resolution 27
ENGROSSED RESOLUTION
Relating to: declaring February 21, 2004, as James Beckum Day.
Whereas, Beckum-Stapleton Little League is sponsoring an event at the Marcus Performing Center to celebrate James Beckum's 75th birthday and the 40th anniversary of the Beckum-Stapleton Little League; and
Whereas, James Beckum founded the Beckum-Stapleton Little League in 1964; and
Whereas, for 40 continuous years, James used his Negro League experience to aid 300 central city youth to play a high level of baseball; and
Whereas, our youth have developed the skills of team work, work ethic, and fair play in a supervised program; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, That the Wisconsin senate declares February 21, 2004, James Beckum Day in Wisconsin; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to James Beckum and to the Beckum-Stapleton Little League.
