2003 Senate Joint Resolution 26
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: the life and public service of Marianne E. Becker.
Whereas, Marianne E. Becker was born on March 14, 1941, and died on March 10, 2003, surrounded by her family; and
Whereas, she worked in the legal profession for 35 years; and
Whereas, for the last 17 years, Judge Becker served the public and Waukesha County as a circuit judge; and
Whereas, in 1985, Judge Becker became the first female judge elected in Waukesha County; and
Whereas, she worked with great dedication for every individual involved in the legal process, especially the victims of crime; and
Whereas, showing her devotion to assisting victims, Judge Becker founded the Waukesha County Victims' Impact Panel, which aims to build an understanding between victims and offenders; and
Whereas, she also volunteered her time for many community organizations, including the Waukesha County D.A.R.E. program; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin legislature commend the committed service that Marianne E. Becker gave to Wisconsin and Waukesha County, express their sorrow at her death, and extend their condolences to her family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Judge Becker's husband.
