16expiration of the specified period, the department of corrections or county
17department, whichever has supervision over the juvenile, may release the juvenile's
18name and any information about the juvenile that is necessary for the protection of
19the public or to secure the juvenile's return to the facility, center, home, or jail. The
20department of corrections shall promulgate rules establishing guidelines for the
21release of the juvenile's name or information about the juvenile to the public.

AB843-SSA2-AA7,3,77 (a) “Assault weapon" means any of the following:
AB843-SSA2-AA7,3,98 1. A semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine
9and that has any of the following:
AB843-SSA2-AA7,3,1010 a. A pistol grip that protrudes beneath the action of the weapon.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,3,1111 b. A folding, telescoping, or thumbhole stock.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,3,1212 c. A 2nd handgrip or protruding grip that can be held by the nontrigger hand.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,3,1313 d. A bayonet mount.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,3,1514 e. A flash suppressor, muzzle brake, or muzzle compensator or a threaded
15barrel capable of accepting a flash suppressor, muzzle brake, or muzzle compensator.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,3,1616 f. A grenade launcher.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,3,1717 2. A semiautomatic shotgun that has any of the following:
AB843-SSA2-AA7,3,1818 a. A folding, telescoping, or thumbhole stock.

AB843-SSA2-AA7,4,75 e. A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel,
6and that permits the user to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being
7burned.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,4,88 f. A manufactured weight of at least 50 ounces when the pistol is unloaded.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,4,119 (b) “Detachable magazine" means any ammunition feeding device, the function
10of which is to deliver one or more ammunition cartridges into the firing chamber, that
11can be removed from the firearm without any tool, bullet, or ammunition cartridge.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,4,1212 (c) “Firearms dealer" has the meaning given in s. 175.35 (1) (ar).
AB843-SSA2-AA7,4,1413 (d) “Muzzle brake" means a device that is attached to the muzzle of a weapon
14and that uses escaping gas to reduce recoil.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,4,1615 (e) “Muzzle compensator" means a device that is attached to the muzzle of a
16weapon and that uses escaping gas to control muzzle movement.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,4,1717 (f) “Rifle" has the meaning given in s. 941.28 (1) (a).
AB843-SSA2-AA7,4,2118 (g) “Semiautomatic" means that the firearm is a repeating firearm that
19requires a separate pull of the trigger to fire each cartridge and that uses a portion
20of the energy of a firing cartridge to extract the fired cartridge case and to place
21another unfired cartridge into the chamber.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,4,2222 (h) “Shotgun" has the meaning given in s. 941.28 (1) (d).
AB843-SSA2-AA7,4,25 23(2) Whoever manufactures, transports, purchases, possesses, goes armed with,
24or sells or otherwise transfers possession of an assault weapon is guilty of a Class H
25felony.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,5,1
1(3) Subsection (2) does not apply to any of the following:
AB843-SSA2-AA7,5,42 (a) A person who is transporting or possessing an assault weapon if the person
3possessed the assault weapon prior to the effective date of this paragraph .... [LRB

AB843-SSA2-AA7,5,65 (b) The transportation, purchase, possession, sale, or transfer of possession of
6an assault weapon modified to render it permanently inoperative.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,5,77 (c) Any law enforcement officer while on official duty.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,5,88 (d) Any armed forces or military personnel while on official duty.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,5,119 (e) The possession of an assault weapon by any licensed importer or
10manufacturer under 26 USC 5801 to 5872 authorized to import or manufacture that
11assault weapon.
AB843-SSA2-AA7,5,1312 (f) The possession of an assault weapon under any of the following conditions
13by a firearms dealer authorized to sell assault weapons:
