1An Act to create 59.58 (6) (b) 4. of the statutes;
relating to: membership of the
2governing body of the regional transit authority.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the counties of Kenosha, Milwaukee, and Racine must
create a regional transit authority. The authority is responsible for the coordination
of highway and transit programs within these counties. The governing body of the
authority consists of seven members.
This substitute amendment requires the mayor of the most populous city of the
region (Milwaukee) to appoint an eighth member of the governing body of the
regional transit authority. The appointment is subject to approval by the common
council of Milwaukee.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
