AB838-ASA1,1,2 1An Act to create 168.045 of the statutes; relating to: the sale of gasoline
2containing methyl tertiary butyl ether and granting rule-making authority.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB838-ASA1, s. 1 3Section 1. 168.045 of the statutes is created to read:
AB838-ASA1,1,7 4168.045 Methyl tertiary butyl ether in gasoline. (1) (a) From May 1, 2000,
5or the effective date of this paragraph .... [revisor inserts date], whichever is later,
6to April 30, 2002, no person may sell or offer for sale gasoline that contains more than
72% of methyl tertiary butyl ether by volume.
AB838-ASA1,1,98 (b) From May 1, 2002, to April 30, 2003, no person may sell or offer for sale
9gasoline that contains more than 1% of methyl tertiary butyl ether by volume.
AB838-ASA1,1,1210 (c) Beginning on May 1, 2003, no person may sell or offer for sale gasoline that
11contains more than trace amounts of methyl tertiary butyl ether, as determined
12under rules promulgated by the department.

1(2) The department shall promulgate rules for the administration of this
2section.
