1999 WISCONSIN ACT 154
An Act to amend 36.27 (1) (a); and to create 36.27 (1) (b) and 38.24 (4m) of the statutes; relating to: auditing University of Wisconsin System and technical college system courses by persons who are 60 years of age or older.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
154,1 Section 1. 36.27 (1) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
36.27 (1) (a) Subject to par. pars. (b) and (c), the board may establish for different classes of students differing tuition and fees incidental to enrollment in educational programs or use of facilities in the system. Except as otherwise provided in this section, the board may charge any student who is not exempted by this section a nonresident tuition. The board may establish special rates of tuition and fees for the extension and summer sessions and such other studies or courses of instruction as the board deems advisable.
154,2 Section 2. 36.27 (1) (b) of the statutes is created to read:
36.27 (1) (b) The board shall permit a person who is 60 years of age or older to audit a course without paying an auditor's fee if the person is a resident of this state, as determined under sub. (2) (e), space is available in the course and the instructor approves.
154,3 Section 3. 38.24 (4m) of the statutes is created to read:
38.24 (4m) Auditor's fee exemption. The board shall permit a person who is 60 years of age or older to audit a course, other than a community service program, without paying an auditor's fee if the person is a resident of this state, as determined by the board by rule, space is available in the course and the instructor approves.
